Identify the cart before selecting the battery

Record the cart manufacturer, model, year, controller and existing battery arrangement. Note any modifications and accessories. The nominal system voltage is useful, but it is not a complete compatibility specification. Ask the cart or conversion specialist to establish the permitted operating voltage window and relevant power requirements. A battery marketed for golf carts should not be assumed to fit every cart in the same voltage class. A conversion begins with the actual equipment and its approved limits.

Review charging and regenerative behavior

Identify the exact charger and any regenerative function in the drive system. The proposed battery, charger and controller must work together under the intended conditions. Ask the responsible suppliers to confirm charging voltage, current limits, temperature restrictions and protective recovery behavior. Do not reuse a lead-acid charging profile or connector arrangement without explicit compatibility review. A drive system that can send energy back toward the battery also needs assessment. This is a system engineering task that goes beyond comparing the battery's nominal voltage and capacity.

Describe the real driving duty

Tell the supplier about passenger and cargo loads, gradients, surface conditions, typical speed, accessory use and required operating time between charges. Continuous and peak current demands need separate attention. An advertised range is meaningful only with its test assumptions, so request those conditions and compare them with your use. Avoid treating a larger Ah rating as a guaranteed increase in driving distance. Vehicle behavior, installed limits, environment and battery condition influence the practical result.

Plan the mechanical installation

Measure the battery space and show mounting points, access, cable routing and terminal clearances. A different battery mass or location may affect the vehicle and should be reviewed by qualified equipment personnel. Confirm the enclosure and environmental requirements for the intended installation. Any series or parallel arrangement must be expressly approved for the battery and designed as a system. Ask for a controlled installation drawing and ensure that cables, isolation and protective devices are specified by the responsible professional.

Approve the conversion with a test record

Define the cart configuration, battery model, charger settings and representative route used for acceptance. Include startup, normal driving, charging, low-energy indication and the expected response to protective events. Keep documentation and service instructions with the vehicle. Jetray lists golf-cart applications and battery products in its catalog; project-specific suitability must be confirmed before ordering. A clear conversion record helps future maintenance teams identify the approved components and avoids treating a later battery with a similar label as an automatic replacement. Document any operating restrictions identified during the review and ensure the responsible vehicle operator receives the approved installation information.
